SEMM Mautone scored another achievement: it received a special mention in the Ibero-American Quality Award

Last Friday, March 24, the general manager of the institution, Miguel Ángel García, and the technical director, Gustavo Rodríguez, received in the Dominican Republic the Special Mention of the 2022 Ibero-American Award that distinguishes the work and quality management of the processes in the Sanatorium SEMM Mautone. The President of the Republic, Luis Lacalle Pou, the King of Spain, Felipe VI, and presidents of different Ibero-American countries participated in the event.

The Ibero-American Quality Award is convened annually; is a Project Attached to the Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government and is coordinated by SEGIB (Ibero-American General Secretariat) and managed by FUNDIBEQ (Ibero-American Foundation for Quality Management) and AENOR (Spanish Association for Standardization and Certification) .

Miguel Ángel García, general manager of the institution, affirmed that this is another good news for the sanatorium and that it is not a coincidence, but the result of something “sought” and thanks to the efforts of all the members of the organization.

“The Ibero-American Award is a competition in which public and private organizations from Ibero-America (Latin America, the Caribbean, Spain and Portugal) present themselves. In order to introduce you, organizations must have previously obtained the National Quality Award of their country, as is the case with the SEMM Mautone Sanatorium. Let’s say it’s like a championship of championsGarcia stressed. “In this way, it is ensured that there is a good level of competitiveness among those who already have a culture in quality processes,” he added.

The general manager of SEMM Mautone assured that the award recognizes the institutions that present the “best practices” to clients, the environment, workers and suppliers.

García explained that the selection process for the Ibero-American Award begins with an application based on a questionnaire that is evaluated by the Fundibeq Committee of experts. If the verdict is positive, a delegation of local and international experts goes to the place – in this case, the SEMM Mautone Sanatorium.

“In the local audit, the evaluators randomly choose different processes from all the areas to be considered and request evidence of how the activity was carried out by the SEMM Mautone Sanatorium. What does this mean? Everything you say you do, you have to show proof. This is an important aspect, since it is not enough for you to say what you do, but you have to show the evidence, ”she deepened.

“In Uruguay the culture of registration is not ingrained, therefore, it is a change that must be incorporated into organizations, as well as the search for errors, not to punish, but to correct the causes that led to the failure,” he said. Garcia.

The general manager of SEMM Mautone stated: “This award is a recognition of the effort of all the members of the SEMM Mautone Sanatorium and an additional commitment for our institution on the path of leading the culture of quality in health services, both in Maldonado like Uruguay and the region”, he concluded.
