Panettone shipment is at risk due to protests

As a consequence of the protests, there are two million panetones that are at risk of not entering the interior of the country for the year-end holidays, warned the president of the Peruvian Association of Bakery and Pastry Entrepreneurs (Aspan), Pío Pantoja.

Speaking to Peru21, he specified that the truck drivers in charge of transporting the product do not want to take risks due to the roadblocks observed in recent days.

“It cannot be sent by plane because of the cost, and because the problem is not the capitals, but the transfer to the provinces,” he added.

But it is not the only problem in the sector. Pío Pantoja specified that bakeries in the interior of the country have a stock of flour equivalent to eight days.

“There are approximately 10,000 bakeries that are waiting. For now they have the necessary stock, so we hope that in these days order will be restored so that the necessary supplies can enter ”, he added.

In the same way, he recalled that the sector has maintained prices, that is, that it has not raised them, despite the different inconveniences that have arisen since the pandemic.
