Businessmen unionized in the Panamanian Chamber of Construction (CAPAC), asked their workers to reflect on the negative effects of a strike declaration, highlighting the need to bet on keeping jobs occupied and creating the necessary conditions for the reactivation of the industry.

Elisa Suárez, president of the Panamanian Association of Company Executives, (Apede), also spoke about this issue and called on the National Union of Construction and Similar Workers to rectify their decision to go on strike next April 4 assuring that at this time it has not been possible to hire 40% of the labor force and it is necessary that there be more work, not that there are street closures or strikes that “the only thing they are going to achieve is that fewer workers have work,” he said .

In a community, CAPAC told his workers that it is important to keep their jobs, “at a time when many colleagues have not been able to find a job opportunity, in construction companies that also face serious difficulties due to the lack of new projects and continuity of some works.
