The fight against organized crime does not stop. Through Operation Bayano III, the National Police together with the National Border Service and the Public Ministry take over the Chepo district with the objective of dismantling a criminal structure dedicated to the crime Against Collective Security in the form of Gangsterism.

The repressive action against the gang calling itself Pureza Sin Límites “PSL” that operates in the district of Chepo, consisted of 35 simultaneous raids and searches in order to capture its leaders and members, in addition to seizing evidence related to the criminal activities of this group.

This operation included two operational phases, the first resulting in 13 people being apprehended, of which 10 were linked to the criminal group and 3 to other crimes. Likewise, a search was carried out in the La Joya and La Joyita penitentiary center, where 36 active inmates of this same structure are linked and who carry out activities and issue orders for the commission of crimes outside the prison.

Operation Bayano III arises after an investigation initiated in July 2019 that indicated that in Chepo, the gang “Los Hijos de Nanahoria” operated, who after the La Joyita massacre, called themselves “PSL Pureza Sin Límite.”

Operation Bayano III is the fourth operational action against Gangs carried out by the National Police and the Public Ministry so far in 2024.
