Venezuela and Chile evaluate opportunities to raise levels of joint work

The Foreign Minister of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Yván Gil, held a working meeting with the Undersecretary of Foreign Relations of the Republic of Chile, Alex Wetzig, at the headquarters of the Ministry of People’s Power for Foreign Relations, in Caracas, with the in order to explore opportunities to raise the levels of joint work in the diplomatic and consular sphere.

The information was provided by Minister Gil on his social networks, where he indicates that the meeting aims “at the progressive reconstruction of historical relations” between both nations. According to the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry, after the XXVIII Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government, held in March in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, the Venezuelan Foreign Minister met with his Chilean counterpart Alberto van Klaveren.

The solidarity of Venezuela was evidenced by the dispatch of a contingent of the Simón Bolívar Humanitarian Task Force to support the extinction of the flames in the southern nation, in the midst of the forest fires that devastated several regions of Chile.

Also, after coordination between the foreign ministries of both countries, last weekend 115 Venezuelan men and women who were blocked on the border between Chile and Peru were returned through the Plan Vuelta a la Patria.
