Deputies bought imported cars with their money, affirms the Assembly

In a statement, the National Assembly referred to the purchase of imported vehicles by deputies and affirms that these cars are not paid for with people’s money.

“It is false that the cars imported by the deputies of the Republic were paid for with the people’s money… Each deputy paid, with their own money”

They emphasize that the purchase of the imported vehicle and they acted in strict accordance with what Law 49 of 1984 states, so there is no crime against the national treasury.

This same law stipulates in its Article 229 that “The members of the National Assembly will have, at least, the same prerogatives, emoluments and assignments as the Ministers of State.”

Meanwhile, the National Assembly explained that the 12 vehicles rented at the beginning of the Fifth Legislative Period were requested by the Board of Directors and were used by the President, First and Second Vice President, Secretary and Undersecretary, bench coordinators and management officials of said institution.
