UTE rates will rise 3.5% average from January

The UTE rates will have an average adjustment of 3.5% that will be in force from next January 1, as confirmed The Observer.

The correction is located over almost half of the inflation projected by the Executive Power for 2023, which is around 6.7%.

This proposal was approved by the majority of the Board of Directors, after analyzing different scenarios of the financial program for the coming year.

Meanwhile, he had the vote against the director of the Broad Front, Fernanda Cardona, who was in favor of keeping the prices of residential rates frozen, as he learned The Observer.

The approved adjustment is lower than the one initially proposed by the company’s technical teams, which was around 5.07% average. Commonly, the proposal approved by the Board of Directors already has the prior endorsement of the Executive Power.

Last January, electricity rates had also adjusted by 3.5% on average.

“Since the beginning of this administration, considering 2023 inclusive, in real terms UTE reduced rates by 11% compared to the CPI,” said President Silvia Emaldi at a press conference. This decision was made based on “the macroeconomic variables projected by the economic team, the financial strength of the agency and cost efficiency in internal processes,” she added.
