The National Immigration Directorate, through its Fray Bentos inspectorate, informed the Prosecutor’s Office of a case that is being investigated under article 77 of Law 18,250, which refers to the traffic of people with a relative.
The fact was confirmed this Wednesday morning in an integrated control of the san martin bridge. A 28-year-old man of nationality Argentina and a 21-year-old Uruguayan woman arrived at a migration post in a vehicle registered in the department of Soriano and tried to secretly pass an 8-year-old girl.
An official noticed that the minor was hidden in the back seat covered with a jacket, without identity documentation and without a minor’s permit. The passengers were unable to continue their journey and the case was brought to the attention of the Fray Bentos Prosecutor’s Office, which decided to draw up a report with an investigation of adults. He also requested a series of actions from the Prefecture staff.
