The Ombudsman’s Office expresses its concern about the constant changes in the head of the Ministry

The Ombudsman’s Office expressed concern about the constant changes in the heads of the Ministry of the Interior (Mininter), after the censorship of Dimitri Senmache by the Congress of the Republic last Thursday.

Through its institutional account on Twitter, the entity recalled that, to date, there have been six people appointed to this position during the current management of the President’s Government peter castle.

“This situation weakens the continuity of public policies and the articulated work against citizen insecurity, one of the main problems that affects the rights of citizens”he pointed.

“We reiterate the need to appoint the new head of said sector under the strict criteria of suitability, experience and meritocracy, thus guaranteeing the fulfillment of his function with a human rights approach”he added.

As recalled, by 78 votes in favour, 29 against and 8 abstentions, Parliament approved the motion of censure against Senmache for the escape of Juan Silva and the deaths due to clashes between artisanal miners in Caravelí, Arequipa region.

In this way, Senmache will have to leave the position he had assumed on May 22 in the next 72 hours. After that, the president will have to designate his successor.

So far in the management of Castillo Terrones, there are five Interior Ministers who have passed: Juan Carrasco Millones, Luis Barranzuela, Avelino Guillén, Alfonso Chávarry and Dimitri Senmache.
