Russia will export a variety of food products to Cuba

Madrid Spain.- The Russian Federal Veterinary and Phytosanitary Control Service (Rosselkhoznadzor) agreed with the Cuban Ministry of Agriculture the possibility of supplying the island with a wide variety of food products.

According to the official Latin Pressboth organizations approved veterinary certificates to export meat, dairy and fish products from Russia to Cuba.

It was agreed to send meat, meat raw materials and by-products obtained from the slaughter and processing of cattle, pigs and poultry. Also, milk and milk products, canned foods, sausages and other types of prepared meats.

Exports of fish and shellfish, as well as products from their processing, are also covered.

The Russian regulatory service indicated that the facilities from which the supplies to Cuba will be made will be evaluated taking into account compliance with the standards established by the island’s legislation, it specifies Latin Press.

Cuba-Russia relations in recent months

In recent months, despite the Russian invasion of Ukraine condemned worldwide, the Cuban regime has maintained close ties with the government of Vladimir Putin.

In February 2022, days before invading Ukraine, Russia agreed to postpone payments on Cuba’s debt to the Kremlin until 2027. Last April, the Russian government donated almost 20,000 tons of wheat to Cuba.

For its part, Havana has maintained an ally position since the beginning of the Russian attacks.

Last Thursday, the Cuban government again abstained from voting against Russia, on issues related to the invasion of Ukraine. This time it was an investigation proposed by the UN into war crimes committed by Russian troops since they invaded Ukraine.

On April 7, he had already opposed expelling Russia from the United Nations Human Rights Security Council for the crimes committed in Ukraine.

In March, the Cuban government abstained from voting on a resolution condemning Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, approved by the United Nations General Assembly with 141 votes in favor, five against and 34 abstentions.

In advance, Havana had voted against holding the debate sessions that would lead to said resolution.
