The repeal of the ruling in force almost 50 years ago shows a regressive profile around the guarantees of civil rights that ignite the debate in the North American nation
The decision of the Supreme Court to annul the judicial ruling that established a precedent in defense of the right to abortion, caused thousands of people, in several cities in the United States, to go out to protest.
One of the most massive demonstrations was in Washington, where hundreds of people gathered for hours in front of the Supreme Court to express their position on that decision.
Some had been organized on the night of Friday, June 24, by groups such as Planned Parenthood, the organization that manages the largest network of reproductive health clinics in the United States; but others emerged spontaneously with women coming together to raise their voices.

According to Efe, the flow of people who arrived at the headquarters of the country’s highest judicial body arrived with signs that read “Abortion à la carte and without apologizing.” Some protesters, many of them young, wept after the decision.
The repeal of this ruling in force for almost 50 years is one -within a possible list of revisions- that the highest US court has taken in just one week that shows a regressive profile around the civil rights guarantees that ignite the debate in the American nation.
