The Minister of Transport, Alexis Guerrera, said this Saturday that “The reference rate is not going to unlock the claim for the lack of diesel”, and that it is not an issue that he considers to be the cause of the multiple cuts in the country.
Guerrera clarified that “the Ministry of Transportation encourages the meeting between carriers and cargo providers to discuss reference rates. A cargo provider and a carrier are not tied to accepting a rate amount. They are reference rates,” he said.
In dialogue with Radio Mitre, Guerrera said about the lack of diesel that he understands from what they explain to him from YPF and from the Secretary of Energy, “that with the arrival of new ships, having increased what was planned at the beginning of the year, in the next In 15/20 days, the problem would be solved. The supply of diesel oil for the work necessary for the agribusiness would even be guaranteed.”
“Let’s think that right now the international bid to obtain diesel is very strong and that is why prices have skyrocketed. Argentina is not the only country that is bidding in the world for the purchase of diesel. Ships are arriving not at the best pace necessary for domestic consumption,” she added.
Regarding the statements of the Secretary of Energy, he pointed out: “I understand that the government is a whole. I regret the comments of the Secretary of Energy saying that Transportation is to blame for the roadblocks. I do not consider that it is given in the claim that they may be making these days about the reference rate, a meeting that is going to take place next Wednesday, which was agreed.”
“I think they were a bit due to a lack of knowledge of how the reference rate mechanism works, which is nothing more than that, a reference rate. If today the market wanted to modify it, the game of supply and demand, You can also change it,” he concluded.
