In the last hours it transpired that the Prosecutor’s Office requested the prosecution of three soldiers for torture of adolescents and young people between 13 and 18 years old who in 1975 were detained in the Infantry Battalion No. 10 of Treinta y Tres, reported MVD Noticias.

In April 1975, the Uruguayan Army detained 39 adolescent militants of the Union of Communist Youth (UJC) who were between 13 and 18 years old, and later tortured and sexually abused in the 10th Infantry Battalion.

This is one of the most serious episodes of the repression of the past military dictatorship due to the age of the victims and the magnitude of the acts committed.

In October 2011, the victims filed a criminal complaint.
