Pereira contradicted Manini and assured that the senator and his family are settlers

According to the report we received from (Andrés) Berterreche, (…) the statements he made were so important and what he explained about the history of the camp was so impressive that there is no doubt that Manini, Irene Moreira and their father are settlers and have not regularized the situation“He indicated at a press conference, recorded by Telemundo.

Manini Ríos had once again denied on Twitter that he and his family were settlers, after a technical report prepared by the National Institute of Colonization (INC) was disclosed that implicated him in irregularities. However, Pereira replied: “He has all the tools to say that it is not correct, but he has to present documentation and I do not think he will do it”.

The Broad Front (FA) is analyzing the situation and is waiting for the INC to process the legal report. According to the union leader, there is “no policy” aimed at “persecuting” the lobbyist leader, but rather, if his condition is confirmed, he must “comply with the rules” of the institute.

“It is clear that they found within their field some other violations of Uruguay’s legal norms that the ministries will have to investigate,” he said. Later, he explained that he trusts the work of the Minister of Labor, Pablo Mieres, to get to the bottom of the case.

Pereira also responded to the criticism of senator Guillermo Domenech, who questioned the moment in which Berterreche’s work was disclosed. “It has nothing to do with the referendum. We are very persecuted with the referendum. Every piece of news that is given is for the referendum. On March 28, whatever the outcome(…) people have to show whether or not they are settlers. There is a very easy way to prove it: showing the documents”, concluded the president of the FA.

Berterreche, together with a team from the INC, produced a report that, according to his statements, shows that Manini, his wife and Minister of Housing, Irene Moreira, and Manini’s father-in-law, Roque Moreira, have in their possession the padrón 511 of Artigasof some 2,856 hectares, which belongs to ColonizationSearch reported.

For its part, the legislator denied this accusation in a letter, which if true could lead him to incur some irregularitiesfor voting laws that favor it in the private framework –two articles of Colonization of the Law of Urgent Consideration–.
