The president of the Republic, peter castleleft for the United States to attend the IX Summit of the Americas, to be held in Los Angeles, California, from June 6 to 10.
Through his Twitter account, the president said to expect “bring positive news” in favor of Peru and the integration of peoples, in the midst of post-pandemic events and the war between Russia and Ukraine.
“We left for the United States to bring positive news in favor of Peru and the integration of the peoples in the Summit of the Americas. We are at a crucial moment for the world due to post-pandemic events and the war between Russia and Ukraine”he wrote on the social network.
“Therefore, participating in this event will allow the Government to strengthen multilateral solutions against the food crisis, poverty, insecurity and inequalities”he added.
In addition to participating in said international event that will take place between June 6 and 10, with the authorization approved by Parliament, it is also contemplated that the president attend related meetings to be held on June 8, 9 and 11.
It should be noted that -according to the official letter- it has also been planned that Castillo Terrones participates in the IV Business Summit of the Americas, to be held on June 8 and 9; and to hold a meeting with the Peruvian community residing in Los Angeles on June 11.
On June 2, the Congress of the Republic authorized the president’s trip with 103 votes in favor, 2 against and one abstention, in the session led by the president of that state power, María del Carmen Alva (Popular Action).
