The dictatorship of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo continues to be insensitive to the request of an eight-year-old girl who has begged to see her father, the sports writer and political prisoner, Miguel Mendoza, despite the fact that the journalist declared himself on a hunger strike a long time ago. 18 days, as an extreme measure to put pressure on the regime.
The journalist was arbitrarily detained at his home on June 21, 2021 and since then, the Ortega regime has denied him any type of communication with the minor.

Alejandra Mendoza, eight years old, suffers the forced separation from her father, cries daily and misses seeing her father’s face and playing with him. For more than 15 months, the sports writer was taken as a political prisoner by the Ortega regime.
“It doesn’t matter if his body changed or how his face is, I still love him the same or more than before,” said the minor, in one of the many writings she has written for her father.
The relatives of the prisoner of conscience have requested in different ways that the slightest communication between Miguel and his daughter be authorized, however, the Ortega administration has denied this demand.
The political prisoner’s lawyer has filed 11 appeals before the Managua Court of Appeals (TAM), but none have been answered. The forced separation between Miguel Mendoza and his daughter Alejandra has caused damage to the girl’s physical and emotional health, according to relatives.
Miguel Mendoza has lost more than 30 pounds in prison and when he was presented in the courts of Managua he looked thin. His relatives denounced that he suffers from various illnesses that are not treated by a doctor.
The journalist and critic of the government of Daniel Ortega was captured on June 21, 2021, he was found guilty of the crimes of conspiracy to undermine national integrity and spread of false news. The “evidence” was the posts on his Twitter account. He was sentenced to nine years in prison.
