More than 7,000 schoolchildren learned the value of drinking water and sewerage

During the first three months of the school year, the national initiative “Water Classes”, promoted by the Technical Agency of the Administration of Sanitation Services (Otass), taught more than 7,681 primary and secondary students from 11 regions of the country about the assessment of sanitation services.

The Otass national health education initiative consists of teaching schoolchildren to value and make good use of drinking water and sewage, through the dissemination of 9 “Water Classes” audiovisual educational material, lasting 11 minutes each. one.

Students learn about how water is made drinkable, good practices for the use of sanitation services, the wastewater route, among other topics.

“With Agua Clases we are teaching the children of the country to be responsible citizens and true agents of change who will not only put into practice everything they have learned, but will also spread, in their homes and in their community, the messages about the importance care and responsible use and assessment of drinking water and sewage”, affirmed the executive director of Otass, Héctor Barreda Domínguez.

In addition, the training of the students has the support of the personnel of the sanitation companies, of the UE Agua Tumbes and the technical assistance of the Office of Social Management and Communications of the Otass.

In these first three months, talks were given in 60 educational institutions nationwide, in the areas of the EPS Emapa Cañete, EPS Barranca and Emapa Huaral (Lima), Emapab and EPSSMU (Amazonas), Emapacop (Pucallpa) Emapica, Emapisco, Emapavigs and Semapach (Ica), Seda Huánuco, EPS Marañón (Cajamarca), EPS Ilo, EPS Moquegua, Sedaloreto (Iquitos) and Moyobamba (San Martín).

It is important to note that EPS Grau is the first municipal shareholder company to implement the initiative, through the signing of a cooperation agreement for the delivery of educational material and technical assistance for its implementation.
