Bernardo Castellanos reitera que pacto eléctrico es solo una excusa para justificar aumentos

Bernardo Castellanos reiterates that the electricity pact is just an excuse to justify increases

The expert in electrical issues, the engineer Bernardo Castellanos, stated this Friday that the electricity pact is nothing more than an excuse to justify the abusive increases in the energy rate that affect, for the most part, the poorest.

“The government can do whatever it wants, what happens is that this pact is the excuse to justify all these outrageous rate increases that are immoral and abusive for those who can least and have the least,” he declared on the radio program El heading for the morning, by 98.5 FM.

In this sense, he argued that the current authorities of the energy sector hide behind the Pact Electric “but the only thing they honor is the increase in rates, but the other points do not touch them.”

Castellanos added that the aforementioned pact, signed in 2021, contains the same regulations as in 2019, Antonio Almonte, current Minister of Energy and Mines, Andrés Astacio, current Executive Vice President of the Electricity Distribution Companies and Secretary of the Unified Council of Electricity Distribution Companies (CUED), and the rest of the representatives of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM).

“The PRM withdrew from the discussions of the Electric Pact long before 2019 when the final document was prepared and then they issued a public document demanding compliance with ten points to sign the pact and those ten points could have been included in the tome that was did last year and they didn’t include it,” he said.

He also condemned the fact that the most dispossessed clients are the ones who have to pay for the negligence of officials in the electricity sector, alleging that such management is a disaster.

“For what reason do we customers have to pay for the irresponsibility, negligence and improvisation of officials in the electricity sector, that is the question,” he emphasized.

He added that “these increases are aimed at those who can least afford and have the least, which are those who consume 200 kilowatts per month or less, are the ones who bear the greatest burden of the increase.”

He indicated that, of the measures established in the Electric Pact, only the increase in rates is implemented because it is the only thing that is convenient for the authorities, but they do not reduce the current expenses of the sector or the payroll of related entities.
