Minister says he will comply with the school calendar

The Minister of Education, Ángel Hernández, said this Monday that guaranteeing compliance with the school calendar will be a priority of his management and that, to achieve this goal, he will work with transparency, harmony and an open dialogue with the Dominican Association of Teachers (ADP), parent associations and sectors that influence the development of teaching and learning.

“For this management it is of vital importance that students learn to read, write and develop logical and creative thinking,” he said.

Hernández delivered a speech at the transfer of command ceremony, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Educationin a room packed with officials and employees of that state agency.

“It is imperative to promote and create a motivating educational environment for students, teachers and parents, in which order, discipline and responsibility prevail throughout the public school system from the Ministry to the classrooms,” said the new minister. of Education, after receiving that dependency from his predecessor, Roberto Fulcar.

“One of our first administrative actions is to share our educational vision with the ADP and the signatory institutions of the Educational Pact,” he insisted, after thanking the trust placed in him by President Luis Abinader to lead this important ministry.

“Achieving better results in the quality of learning requires achieving compliance with the academic calendar. This is a priority”, Minister Hernández insisted.

Fulcar’s achievements

The official highlighted the achievements of Roberto Fulcar and his team during the 2 years they were at the head of the Ministry of Education and assured that they have been recognized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). and other international organizations.

He said that Fulcar, in the serious moments that the world, the country and education were going through as a result of the covid-19 pandemic, promoted initiatives of vital importance, to ensure that Dominican children and young people continue the teaching-learning process. .

“Those difficult moments were successfully overcome thanks to the support of President Luis Abinader and the initiatives promoted by Dr. Roberto Fulcar,” he said.

Hernández was appointed to the position by decree of President Luis Abinader number 414-22, issued on the 3rd of this month.
