During the presentation of the second report on the financial situation of the Local Public Electoral Organizations (Oples), the executive secretary of the National Electoral Institute (INE), Edmundo Jacobo Molina, warned that the worrying situation in these organizations continues due to budget cuts, especially in Durango, Hidalgo, Quintana Roo and Tamaulipas, where there will be elections.
In the session of the General Council of the INE, the electoral advisor Dania Ravel described as very worrying the situation faced by the local institutes when they have the commitment to carry out elections this year. In six states there is a high risk of operability and in another six moderate risks; 12 institutes requested budget extensions and only three reported having received it.
In his speech, the president of the INE, Lorenzo Córdova, highlighted the case of Durango, where the cut oscillates by 60 percent and prevents it from launching the tender for the program of preliminary electoral results and the state government had to assume itself as guarantor of the agreement between the institute and Graphic Workshops to start printing electoral materials.
Jacobo Molina also referred to the most critical case, Durango, for which the delivery of previous administrations has been delayed, including 19 million pesos pledged to organize the PREP.
In another order, upon approving the opinions of the control of the pre-campaigns carried out in the six entities that have elections in June (four only for governor, Durango governor and mayors and Quintana Roo governor and local congress), the councilor Jaime Rivera, president of the Control Commission, reported that together fines were imposed for 3.6 million pesos relatively low amount
compared to 2021, when the candidacies of two candidates for governor of Morena in Michoacán and Guerrero were canceled, a type of case not registered in the current process.
