European electoral mission begins work in Venezuela

The Electoral Observation Mission of the European Union (EU-EOM) in Venezuela began its work in the country after the start of the campaign prior to local and regional elections November 21.

This phase of the EU-EOM has 44 members that will be in different states of the country under the supervision of MEP Isabel Santos and that it will review the different challenges facing the country in the face of the elections, among these the pandemic.

It is expected that with the passing of the days a “core team” of 11 persons to the observers, then they will arrive 34 more people, a delegation of 12 parliamentarians among other diplomats with the goal of having 100 or more observers on November 21.

Isabel Santos highlighted that they will observe “the entire electoral process” including the campaign, the voting, the count and possible claims in the following days, which makes this visit a “A great mission” compared to the previous ones.

The EU-EOM is expected to deliver its final report two months after the elections have concluded, This document will include input from observers with corrections and recommendations for upcoming election days.
