After it was made public that gang members have allegedly taken over the contracts for Line 3 of the Panama Metro, the HPH Joint Venture Consortium, in charge of this construction, assured that they maintain a contracting policy that prioritizes the communities impacted by the project directly.

The complaints indicate that the gang members extort people who are looking for vacancies and ask them for a percentage to help them enter the project, they also indicated that they have threatened the engineers and foremen with firearms.
However, the HPH Joint Venture Consortium reported that to date the Human Resources personnel of the Line 3 project have not received any type of complaint concerning or related to the crimes of extortion or threats to direct personnel (field workers) and indirect personnel (foremen , engineers) by high-risk individuals.
The HPH Consortium assured that they maintain permanent coordination with the authorities of the area and if an incident is registered, they will proceed according to the relevant legal parameters.
