Congressmen elected by Peruvians abroad will have 7 calendar days of representation week

The elected by the electoral constituency of They will have 7 calendar days of representation week, according to the replacement text approved today by the Plenary of Parliament.

The incorporates letter k) to article 22, modifies letter f) of article 23 and article 51 of the Congress regulations, in order to improve the performance of parliamentary representation.

In the first point, it is stipulated that once the credential is received, the elected legislator must fill out an affidavit indicating his native or indigenous mother tongue, in order to be assigned an interpreter or translator for the parliamentary service.

It is also mentioned that in the case of congressmen elected by the electoral district of Peruvians abroad, constitute 7 continuous calendar days in their constituency.

“Additionally, and in order to improve parliamentary representation, the Board of Directors provides the necessary technological tools to optimize constant virtual communication between congressmen and all Peruvians”says the norm.

Finally, the replacement text adds a paragraph to article 51 of the Congress regulations regarding the fact that during the sessions, the parliamentarian whose mother tongue or indigenous language is different from Spanish, may request the presence of an interpreter.

In this way, the Constitution Commission responded to the request of the congressman Juan Carlos Lizarzaburu (Popular Force) on the 7 calendar days of representation for those elected by the electoral district of Peruvians abroad.

It should be noted that the replacement text was approved by 112 votes in favor in the plenary session held this Wednesday and that it concluded after 8:00 p.m.
