Cuernavaca, Mor., With the constitutional reform in electrical matters no one will be harmedPresident Andrés Manuel López Obrador said yesterday, expressing his confidence that next month the terms sent by his government to the Congress of the Union will be voted on and approved.

To support his statement, he pointed out that the initiative will leave individuals with 46 percent of the market, equivalent to all the electricity in Argentina, and the rest will be operated by the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE).

In this way, he denied millionaire losses for investors, although at the same time he made it clear that there would be no compensation for the cancellation of self-supply model contracts because they are leonine, he stressed.

About the millionaire losses, it’s the same, that is supported by those who maintain privileges now because they receive subsidies and do not want to lose the privilegeshe asserted.

-The senator (morenista) Ricardo Monreal has also said it…

–Well, he is uninformed, because there are no losses; on the contrary, he wins the people of Mexico. And any deputy, any senator, any legislator should be thinking about what is best for the people.

–Would companies not be paid possible compensation or fines?

-No no no. And they always threaten and are going to accuse us abroad.

As an example of the above, he reported that in the process of purchasing the Deer Park refinery, located in Texas, the Mexican government already had the endorsement of the State and Treasury departments, but the opponents were politicking from the US Secretary of Energy. .

However, in the end the attempts did not prosper, although they always warn that the country will have sanctions or that it will violate the North American trade agreement.

None of that, we are fighting corruption. The United States government is not going to defend the corrupt. And if the United States government defends the corrupt, we don’t. As simple as that. Mexico is no longer a land of conquest, to steal from elsewhere.

Previously, he celebrated that the debate on the constitutional reform initiative in electricity is already in the final stretch, which will serve to give strength back to the CFE, to reverse the path of privileges to private companies.

If the reform is not approved, he warned, it will be the companies that set the prices and what is happening in Spain is going to happen to us. I’m not making anything up. Since those companies dominate there, people can no longer stand it, because they don’t have to pay for electricity..

In response to recent comments by the United States ambassador to Mexico, Ken Salazar, in the sense that there is fear that investors will be affected by the reform, the president said:

I respect the ambassador a lot, I respect his opinion, but we have a position that we are going to defend and the legislators are the ones who are going to decide.

He pointed out that once the reform is approved, it will be known which contracts could be modified, so he sent a message to businessmen: They are no longer the times of before, there have been changes. The people did not want the other parties with which we competed (in 2018) to win… If we had said in the campaign that there were not going to be changes, then perhaps (now) they would be misled.
