Over 75 years, the biggest fatalities of omicron

The fatalities in the fourth wave of covid-19, associated with omicron, were the older than 75 years, This was revealed by the National Administrative Department of Statistics, Dane, through its vital statistics report.

From the first to the ninth week of this year, the proportion of older adults who died from this virus approached 60%, specifically in week five. On the other hand, the Dane also pointed out that the population with the most deaths so far in the pandemic has been men over 60 years of age, with 44.1% compared to the total number of deaths.

This also leads to the conclusion that the main deaths from covid-19 were men. The male mortality rate is 120 per 100,000 men, while that of women is 63 for the same population.

As for the cities where the most people died from this disease, it stands out Bogota with 20.6% of deaths and 19.4% due to suspicious deaths. This region is followed Antioch, with 12.8% of deaths; Cauca’s Valley, with 10.7% and Atlantic with 7.2%. The capitals concentrate 60.4% of the deaths.
