As José Luis Gándara Martínez, director of Sports in Matanzas, declared exclusively to the Cuban News Agency, from 11 in the morning the doors of the renovated baseball park will open, which will celebrate the challenge of luminaries and the skills tests for the third time. in the last decade.

The director commented that since before the start of the current National Baseball Series, 61st edition, the facility founded in 1977 was prepared to ensure the comfort of athletes and fans, and from the designation as the venue for the popular show, it was prepared to revive pending areas of constructive actions.

In the most recent days we expanded the area destined for the national commission, behind the home play, we replaced the mattresses and the protective mesh in that same area, we repaired dogaouts and the club house and we worked on the interior and exterior painting of the stadium, as well as on Martín Dihigo Avenue, he specified.

Gándara Martínez announced that a giant screen will be placed for the All-Star Game and two smaller ones for the Little League Game, while two orchestras of recognized prestige in the province and the country, such as La Failde and Muñequitos de Matanzas, will perform in the opening ceremony.

Matanzas, which has recent experience in the development of this type of event, is in excellent conditions to give a show that lives up to expectations, assured the local head of the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation.

The Baseball All-Star Game in Cuba convened this time 52 players, of which only six repeat from the last time: Rafael Viñales (LTU), Yordanis Samón (CMG), Yorbis Borroto (CAV), Yoelkis Guibert (SCU ), Leonel Moa (CMG), and Frederich Cepeda (SSP), the latter to equal the historical record of participations with Eriel Sánchez, both with 11.
