Venezuela made this Thursday a call to the Security Council of the United Nations (UN) to guarantee respect for the sovereignty, territorial integrity, political unity and independence of States.
The call was made by ambassador of Venezuela before the UN, Joaquín Pérez, in the plenary session of the General Assembly, to discuss the extension of the mandate of the cross-border mechanism for humanitarian deliveries to Syria.
Venezuela participates on behalf of the 19 countries that make up the Group of Friends in Defense of the Charter of the United Nations, reported the Permanent Mission of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the United Nations through a message on its Twitter account, which accompanies the video of the ambassador’s intervention.
The Venezuelan representation before the UN emphasized the support for the measures anchored in the Charter of the United Nations, and stressed that the lifting of sanctions against Syria would alleviate the humanitarian situation in the country.
“We warn about the dangers of the consolidation of a Cold War-era mentality that bets on confrontation, the deepening and exploitation of conjunctural divisions, and the imposition of geopolitical and domination agendas that only distance us from peace. », Ambassador Joaquín Pérez added on his @japerezve account.
Cross-border deliveries
