Policemen Wilber Rodríguez Vía and Ronald Uncari Usnayo, both 25 years old, were sentenced to 30 years in prison for raping an 11-year-old girl in the municipality of Villamontes (Tarija).

The departmental prosecutor of Tarija, Sandra Gutiérrez, reported that in an oral trial hearing, the Public Ministry demonstrated with convincing evidence that both were perpetrators of the crime of aggravated rape against the little girl. For this reason, the First Criminal Sentencing Court of that municipality issued a sentence of 30 years in prison for the aggressors, who must serve their sentence in the Cantumarca and San Pedro prisons, respectively.

“As soon as we became aware of the case, the prosecutor of the municipality of Villamontes began the investigations with due diligence and all the elements of conviction were collected,” said prosecutor Gutiérrez.

He stressed that among these elements are the psychological report of the victim – who said how the events occurred and recognized his aggressors – in addition to the legal medical report that demonstrates the existence of the criminal act, the police report, among other evidence.

The prosecutor assigned to the case, Ángela Coronado, reported that according to the investigations, Rodríguez was the one who contacted the minor through social networks and after gaining her trust, in February 2021, he summoned her in a place little traffic of Villamontes, picked her up in a patrol vehicle and committed sexual assault. The man maintained contact with the victim until he summoned her in April and he arrived with Ucari. They both harassed her.
