The Venezuelan delegation that accompanied the flight, which was headed by the Minister of Transportation, Ramon Velasquez Araguayancut a symbolic ribbon together with the Syrian authorities to inaugurate the Damascus-Caracas route.

Minister Velásquez Arguayán expressed on his social networks that this new route will help Syrian tourists arrive in the country and visit destinations such as Mérida, Canaima, Porlamar and Los Roques; as well as it offers the possibility of knowing the benefits of the Arab country.

According to the Syrian state agency, Furythe head of the Department of Americas of the Foreign Ministry of the Arab nation, Khalil Bittar, said that a flight is planned every 15 days.

For his part, the Venezuelan ambassador to Syria, José Biomorji Musatis, said that the reestablishment of the route was the result of a “great effort” between the two countries and that it will help strengthen bilateral relations.

Venezuela and Syria have more than 75 years of diplomatic relations, which have been strengthened for more than 20 years in 1999, with political, economic, commercial, tourist and cultural agreements.

The resumption of the flights occurs amid a return of the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to the political arena of the Middle East after almost twelve years of repudiation due to his repressive policies, although Venezuela already maintained good relations with Damascus. .
