A subject nicknamed Jeferson, who does not appear registered as deprived of liberty, is one of the negative leaders in the Eastern Region Penitentiary Center, located in La Pica, Maturín (Monagas), according to police sources.
The so-called La Pica prison is one of the seven penitentiary establishments that are in a transition regime, that is, where the Government has not managed to apply the so-called New Penitentiary Regime, based on discipline, study and work, the source said.
Last Monday that prison was shaken by a confrontation between the gangs of Jeferson and Pedro Rapidito, with six injured and two killed by firearms.
Both dispute control of that prison, which implies charging inmates for vaccines for all services, according to witnesses.
