During today’s afternoon, a group of protesters gathered in Plaza Baquedano, in Santiago, to express their support for the Carabineros after three officers of the institution died in the last month during police procedures. The latest case occurred this morning, when Corporal Daniel Palma died from gunshot wounds to the face that he received while conducting a vehicle inspection.
Demonstrators gathered near Plaza Italia, carrying Chilean banners and flags, and sang the anthem of the uniformed institution. After a while, the group began to walk along the vehicular road in the southern part of Avenida Libertador Bernardo O’Higgins, in the direction of La Moneda.

After touring the Alameda, the group positioned itself in front of the Government Palace, where it continued its demonstration in repudiation of the deaths of the three police officers in the last month: Álex Salazar, Rita Olivares and the official who died today, Daniel Palma.
Before the displacement of the crowd down the street, Carabineros reported on traffic cuts and diversions of public transport.
