What is the new amount of the PGU?
According to official sources, the new value of the Universal Guaranteed Pension (PGU) It will be $224,004 from the second month of the year (that is, February). The increase also applies to the Basic Solidarity Pension for Disability and the Solidarity Pension for Disability.
The increase is 4.5%, and it is important to clarify that the PGU can only be provided to those who meet the requirements to receive it.
In addition, it was confirmed that starting in 2025 the PGU will be received by more than 2,404,000 people, this is a direct consequence of the increase in state aid and the minimum pension necessary is now $1,210,828.
What are the requirements to receive the PGU?
The requirements to receive the Universal Generalized Pension are:
- Be 65 years or older
- Belong to the 90% of the population with the lowest income
- Prove residence in Chile for at least 20 years, continuous or discontinuous, from the age of 20
- Prove residence in Chile for at least 4 years of the last 5 years prior to the application
- Have a base pension less than the maximum pension established by regulations

What does the “PGU in your neighborhood” program consist of?
Within the framework of the campaignThe PGU in your neighborhood”, the Social Security Institute (IPS) will visit various neighborhoods in Chile during the week of January 13.
