Prosecutor intervenes municipality of Mórrope due to conflict between mayoress and first councilor

Prosecutor Milagros Vásquez Atoche, from the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office of the District Municipality of Mórrope intervened, due to the conflict that arose between the mayoress, Janet Morales and the first councilor, Jaime Inoñán.

The problem arose after the Council approved the mayor’s vacancy for allegedly entering false information on her resume. That is why Inoñán Valdera assumed the mayor’s office, dismissing Morales Pasache’s trusted officials.

However, they did not comply with the provisions of the mayor in charge, who appointed new workers, thus generating a struggle for control of the municipality, which was denounced as an alleged usurpation of functions by the mayoress.

Thus, today in the morning, the prosecutor went to the commune accompanied by police officers, initiating a meeting with the mayoress vacada and the mayor in charge (by the Council), in which she finally drew up a record, where urges them to wait for the National Election Jury to issue a pronouncement, so as not to exalt the population.

In dialogue with the media, Jaime Inoñán assured that he will stop appointing officials until the JNE ratifies the municipal agreement that declares the vacancy of Mayor Janet Morales.

“I have told the prosecutor that there is a Council agreement, so how do I justify if I ignore what they delegated. Then, the prosecutor pointed out that with the minutes she does not issue an opinion that the agreement is without effect, but that she will send all the documents to the JNE for evaluation. The mayor said that she will continue in office, so I stop appointing officials, ”she said.
