A tense situation arose last Tuesday at the facilities of Cartografía Nacional, located in the center of Caracas, where spaces are built to file judicial files, according to witnesses.
That Tuesday, Jesse Arias, head of the Executive Directorate of the Judiciary (DEM), the administrative arm of the Judiciary, appeared at these facilities.
The impasse occurred because Arias entered with two vehicles: a Toyota Sequoia without a license plate with escort personnel and a Chevrolet cargo truck, according to reports. Both vehicles penetrated beyond what was allowed to the point that the truck reached the Plaza de la Justicia, located between Cartografía Nacional and the Palace of Justice in Caracas.
In total there were 12 people who arrived in the vehicles. Arias allegedly had a verbal skirmish with the officials of the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB) who tried to explain to him that entering that security zone had to be done under certain regulations. “I don’t have to ask anyone for permission to move the construction material found in this area,” Arias shouted before the military commission.
In the midst of the discussion, Arias ordered three steel plates used in construction work, presumably belonging to a company, to be loaded onto the truck. “Who is your boss to know who gave the order that the construction material could not be removed; being that I am the one who gives the orders,” Arias told the soldiers. One of the officers replied that the entry of unauthorized personnel was prohibited, nor was it allowed for many to remove materials without proper protocol.
The Fourth Company of Detachment 432 of the GNB assigned to the protection of the Public Powers, took note of the staged situation.
