The Venezuelan diplomat, Félix Plasencia, promised to strengthen the union of the region, after being elected on Wednesday as the new Secretary General of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA-TCP).
“I assume with dedication and Bolivarian commitment, this task as the new Secretary General of @ALBATCP, we will continue to highlight the values of our Alliance and the integration of our Peoples,” Plasencia wrote on the social network Twitter.
The appointment was made within the framework of the XXII Summit of Heads of State and Government of ALBA-TCP, which takes place at the Palace of the Revolution, in Havana, Cuba.
Plasencia will replace the Bolivian Sacha Llorenti, who has been in charge of the General Secretariat since December 14, 2020.
Last September, Plasencia was appointed as Venezuelan ambassador to the Republic of Colombia, after the reestablishment of relations between the two nations.
The Venezuelan diplomat also held the position of Minister for Foreign Affairs of Venezuela, between 2021 and 2022.
