He has to use his salary to pay the lawyers to defend himself against the coup plotters, but that is not going to make us give up. We are with the people, we put our bodies in defense of the people and we are willing to give our lives because, if that happens, you will continue for the freedom of our country,” said the prime minister.
The head of the cabinet pointed out that the president is “the product of democracy, that is, of the vote of the people, the sovereign power, the original power, which is the one that has put him in place for five years.”
“However, the coup plotters, from the first day (of his government), want to remove him. We do not allow that, we love democracy. The coup plotters want to call themselves democrats, but they have been exposed not only by the youth throughout the country, but by children, ”he pointed out.
“They will be able to destroy a government, but that will simply be winning a battle, they are going to lose the war anyway because Peru is not going to let itself be run over again,” warned Aníbal Torres.
Pedro Castillo seeks to annul constitutional complaint
Last Monday, President Pedro Castillo’s lawyer, Benji Espinoza, filed a protection of rights before the Supreme Court. The objective of the appeal is to annul the constitutional complaint made by the Nation’s prosecutor, Patricia Benavides, against the president.
Espinoza considers that the aforementioned complaint “openly disregards” the provisions of Judge Juan Carlos Checkley, of the Supreme Court of Preparatory Investigation.
