More than $50 million will be invested in health in the province of Veraguas

More than 50 million balboas will be invested in projects for the province of Veraguas, as announced by the Deputy Minister of Health Ivette Berrío on behalf of the Portfolio holder Luis Francisco Sucre, during her participation in the Provincial Council of Veraguas.

Among these projects, it is scheduled for the first quarter of 2023, to start with the study, design and construction of the new Cañazas Hospital, for an amount of 31 million dollars.

The Vice Minister of Health highlighted that the 4 million have already been approved for the Luis “Chicho” Fábrega Hospital, which will be used for the purchase of medical-surgical equipment, medical supplies and medicines. In addition, the Ministry of Health, through the infrastructure fund, will make an investment of 2 million dollars for air conditioning and repair work on the hospital slab.

Berrío referred to the strengthening of primary care through health posts and centers.

He mentioned that the current state of rural aqueducts in various areas of Veraguas is being evaluated and monitored.

He highlighted the work carried out with the health teams in coordination with the governor and other authorities that have intervened in health matters for the benefit of the population.

Projection and continuity of works for 18 million
Other works that will impact the province of Veraguas will be the construction of the Policentro de Canto del Llano and the expansion of the Centro
of Health of Santiago, as Carlos Candanedo pointed out, National Director of Infrastructure of the Minsa.

For his part, Manuel Castillo Melamed Governor of the province of Veraguas referred to the importance of strengthening the different health facilities in the region and the execution of new projects that guarantee adequate attention to all users of the system and stressed that impact the 1,500 rural aqueducts so that the communities receive a better quality of water and in an efficient manner, at the same time he mentioned that more ambulances should be managed for the health centers.

Representatives from different corregimientos detailed a series of requests to strengthen medical work in the communities, such as medical tours, more health personnel, and adjustments to existing health facilities.

This activity was attended by the Regional Director of Health, Reina Velarde, the director of the Drinking Water and Sanitary Sewerage Subsector (Disapas), Nicolás Alvarado, among other Minsa authorities.
