The councilors of the Movement for Socialism (MAS) of the Mayor’s Office of La Paz Eliana Paco and Roxana Pérez affirmed this Tuesday that their bench will go on a hunger strike until Mayor Iván Arias repeals the resolution of the increase in the rate of urban cleaning.

“We are going to declare a hunger strike until he (Mayor Arias) annuls the administrative resolution of the 84% taxation against the people of La Paz. They have promulgated on December 20, but put into effect as of January 20 of this year, therefore, the invoices will begin to arrive only with the totally illegal increase and contrary to the interests of the people, “said Pérez.

His colleague Paco said that this Tuesday the municipal authority had to appear for a scheduled interrogation, but he did not appear to explain the rise in the cleaning fee and other issues.

“Nobody knew about the news, we got up early with the news. On Monday, with a little knowledge of the population, we approached the offices so that they could give us information, they did not have the information, that is why we have sent an inspection instrument and nothing”, said Councilor Paco.

Since this year, the urban cleaning service rate has risen between 77 cents and 1.76 bolivianos in La Paz.

The update is made based on the variation of the Housing Development Unit (UFV), published by the Central Bank of Bolivia (BCB), said the mayor of La Paz, Iván Arias.
