Lucía Topolansky said that it is a "historical truth" that "the whites are Jettatore" and they bring bad luck

Former Vice President Lucía Topolansky said that it is a “historical truth” that all National Party governments bring bad luck, referring to the pandemic and the water crisis.

In statements recorded by Telemundo, the leader of the Broad Front said that she had “many criticisms” of the government but, laughing, she preferred to talk about “something that is a historical truth: the whites are Jettatore.”

The term refers to a work by the Argentine politician and playwright Gregorio de Laferrere, which was later also made into a movie and implies that there are people who bring bad luck.

“In 1959 we flooded that we drank water by signs, in the 1990s the mutual funds, the banks, the police strike were closed, and now the pandemic and a drought that we are dying. At least they are Jettatore,” he said.

Beyond the comments, Topolansky pointed to the government’s management of drinking water, although he acknowledged that there are problems that involve the entire population.

“It was always said that Uruguay would always have drinking water. It is a misfortune in which we are all participants. We wash the sidewalk with drinking water, the car with drinking water. The waste that we have made in these years… we are all guilty Now the moment of truth has arrived,” he added.
