Joshua Duerksen faced date 2 of the European Regional Formula 3 at the Barcelona-Catalunya circuit, with mixed results.

The Paraguayan driver from the Arden Motorsport team traveled to the Catalan fiefdom with the objective of adding the first points of the championship.

During practice 1, variable weather conditions complicated training for the team, having only 20 minutes of practice on dry track tyres.

For practice 2, the track conditions varied significantlywhich made it necessary to test different configurations of the vehicle, to find the ideal balance for the track.

Already in classification 2, further changes to the settings were attempted, but due to changing track conditions, they did not have the expected effectresulting in a P19 for Joshua.

To close the activities on Saturday, race 1 was held, which defined its starting order according to the results of classification 2. Due to the incident earlier in the day at Imola, Joshua was saddled with a +2 place penalty at the start, converting his P19 to P21 for the start.

In race 1, After a good start, climbing several positions, an accident at turn 4 blocked his way, forcing him to brake and give up the places he had initially gained. After the restart of the race, the conditions of the track and excessive tire wear made overtaking difficult, crossing the line in P18.

On Sunday morning he would return to action, closing the date with race 2, whose starting order was defined by classification 1. Starting from P18, Joshua had another good start, but found himself typecast between 2 cars heading into Turn 12, having to brake to avoid a multiple crash and losing several places in the process. He reached the finish line in P21.

“Was a complicated date. We could not find the ideal configuration for the car, in addition to not being able to take full advantage of practice 1, which limited the amount of information available for analysis. The track conditions were very variable, which also made it more difficult to predict the right strategy.”affirmed the compatriot runner.

The next date of the Formula 3 European Regional will be June 16-18 at the Hungaroring circuit, Hungary.
