Havana will host the International Meeting of Ballet Academies

The XXVII International Meeting of Ballet Academies will be held here from April 5 to 10 with a special dedication to the teacher Ramona de Saá Bello, the Cubaescena digital portal announced today.

According to the organizers, the event becomes a common space to share knowledge and revere the work of the teacher, considered one of the most notable pedagogues of dance art and trainer of several generations of dancers in Cuba.

Promoted by the Fernando Alonso National Ballet School, belonging to the National Center of Art Schools in Cuba, the event will admit the participation of ballet students in the youth, intermediate and advanced categories, in addition to the children’s contest that, for the first time, will have a modality for the little ones.

Specialists, professors, students and dancers from around the world will meet in the Wonder City to draw up strategies that allow raising the technical and conceptual rigor in the training of dancers, share experiences in workshops and offer shows to the national public.

The program includes, among other activities, an inaugural gala at the Martí theater dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the creation of the National School of Art and a grand parade through the streets of Havana’s Paseo del Prado.
