Four members of the same family died on the night of this Sunday, January 8, in a spectacular traffic accident that occurred on the José Antonio Páez highway, Portuguesa state, near the Río Acarigua sector, in Araure.
According to the authorities, only a 12-year-old adolescent survived the accident and two of the deceased were burned when the Toyota truck in which they were traveling, a Toyota brand, Merú model, license plates AE604MK, collided with the head of the bridge on the Acarigua River, overturned and fell under the bridge, immediately catching fire.
The victims were identified as Carmen Angélica Rojas Astudillo (38), her husband Spillman José Characo Silva (42), who presumably was driving the car, the couple’s son Alejandro Characo Rojas (18) and his girlfriend Nichol Yovera (19).
The injured person responds to the name of SC and was transferred to the Jesús María Casal Ramos hospital, in Acarigua-Araure. The medical diagnosis indicates that she has fractures in her left arm and forearm, among other injuries.
The Chacaro Rojas family resided in Araure and returned to their home, located in the Las Gardenias Residential Complex in the Llano Alto urbanization, after a New Year’s Eve outing.
For unknown reasons, the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the bridge structure.
Commissions from the Special Unit for Road Safety and Assistance of the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB), the Portuguesa Fire Department and the Land Traffic Accident Investigation Division of the Bolivarian National Police Corps (DIATT) attended the scene of the accident. -CPNB), who were in charge of lifting and moving the bodies and are currently investigating the causes of the accident.
