FedEx announces winners of its program for entrepreneurs

FedEx Corp. announced the winner of the second edition of the FedEx program for Micro and Small Businesses in the Dominican Republic. The entrepreneur and artisan, Cristhian de la Cruz, was selected as the grand winner of the contest, and will receive a prize of RD$1,087,000. For its part, the company Comercial Green Depot SRL ranked second and will receive RD$700,000.

The FedEx Small and Micro Business Program also recognized the projects of eight other participating companies.

In this second edition, more than 2,500 contestants participated, including micro and small businesses, entrepreneurs and independent professionals, who began to register on April 11, and whose process ended on July 10.

The objective of the Program is to provide small businesses, micro-businesses, entrepreneurs and independent professionals, support to maximize their resources and continue growing.

“After a successful first year, we are very pleased with the results of this second edition of the Program,” said Basil Khalil, vice president of FedEx Express operations for the Caribbean and Central America. “Our jury panel was highly impressed by the entries, which is evidence of the potential, ambition and entrepreneurial talent in the Dominican Republic.”

Additionally, Cristhian de la Cruz, winner of the first place, will have the opportunity to represent the Dominican Republic in the “FedEx Tank Experience”, a special contest dynamic presented by Shark Tank Mexico and Sony Channel, where he will compete against other entrepreneurs from Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Guatemala and Mexico.

FedEx has a strong SMB customer base in countries around the world, supported by customized business solutions. The FedEx Micro and Small Business Program contest is an additional support initiative for this sector. First launched in the Dominican Republic in 2021, the program is also taking place in Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, Chile and Guatemala in Latin America.
