According to the operational strategic commander of the National Armed Forces (FAN), Domingo Hernández Lárez, the military destroyed more than 46 tons of chemical substances used for cocaine processing in 2022.

This December 28, through his account at Twitterindicated that among the chemicals seized and destroyed in different operations were acetone, urea, sulfuric acid, caustic soda and thinner.

He pointed out that these actions were carried out within the framework of the Bolivarian Shield 2022 military operation, which has been carried out in the border states with Colombia since last January to combat irregular groups.

On Tuesday, December 27, the official reported the destruction, so far in 2022, of 61 laboratories dedicated to cocaine processing in the Apure and Zulia regions, both bordering Colombia.

At least 46,958 kilos of drugs have been seized by the authorities from January to mid-December in 7,412 procedures, during which 9,242 people were arrested, according to the national anti-drug superintendent, Richard López Vargas.

This year, the FAN deployed various operations with the objective, according to official reports, of seeking to safeguard national sovereignty.

“The FAN deployed in the border spaces, guiding security and defense actions in a planning and territorial ordering scheme where the preservation, proper management of renewable natural resources and the orderly occupation of the territory is viable,” said Domingo Hernández Lárez. , December 23th.

The Bolivarian Shield 2022 plan was announced by the ruler Nicolás Maduro in January of this year. At that time, he asserted that he should declare himself 100% free this year of the so-called Colombian Armed Terrorist Drug Trafficking groups (Tancol) in the territory.

This operation gained momentum after the clashes between the FAN and the guerrillas in Alto Apure on the border with Colombia.
