Congressman Edwin Martínez denies having called Pedro Castillo’s nephew for jobs

the congressman (Popular Action) denied having called Jaime Vásquez Castillo, nephew of former President Pedro Castillo and brother of fugitive Fray Vásquez Castillo, to request jobs.

In statements to RPP Noticias, he indicated that the relative of the ex-president called him on two occasions, before Castillo Terrones summoned him to the Government Palace before the swearing in of the cabinet chaired by Hannibal Torres.

“He has contacted me. Before the last cabinet of Aníbal Torres was organized, I was summoned by the President of the Republic, I went to the Government Palace and prior to that this boy called me twice “he expressed.

“I have met this boy through his wife, who is a police lieutenant, a friend of some of my friends. He then went to tell me to continue supporting the uncle.”added the legislator.

In this sense, Martínez said that Jaime Vásquez Castillo called him to ask for a meeting and that he visited him with a friend at his home in Jesús María. He explained that he asked for support for the president, in order to “put together a good Cabinet”.

“I didn’t know that boy. He is the one who calls me through another friend to ask me for a meeting. He said, ‘Perfect. I live in Jesús María, visit me’. He went with a friend of mine, they were in my apartment until about 11 at night and there he told me: ‘my uncle wants you to support him to put together a good cabinet.’ ‘Perfect, I’ll talk to your uncle again’”he asserted.

“What need would I have to call that boy to put people to work”added the Acciopopulist parliamentarian.

As recalled, the relative of Castillo Terrones affirmed that a member of the Accio-Populist bench, whose name he did not mention, called him before Aníbal Torres was sworn in as prime minister so that they could meet and talk.

“(Which congressmen called him?) He is from Acción Popular, he is one from Arequipa. Yes I remember (the name), but it is not the moment, there will be the moment. That congressman speaking so much against the uncle (Pedro Castillo), but in the end they looked for us and asked us to name such people “answered.

“Before they name Aníbal Torres, that congressman called me. We met and in the end he told me: ‘tell your uncle to put that person in’ ”he added.
