Colombian Army dismantles ELN drug laboratory in Santander

In an operation in Tibú, Norte de Santander, Colombia, troops from the Colombian Army and the Command against Drug Trafficking and Transnational Threats (Conat) destroyed a laboratory for the processing of cocaine hydrochloride, where 3,055 kilos of this drug belonging to the Army were seized. of National Liberation (ELN).

The drug belongs to the ELN front that is present in Norte de Santander and whose leaders are in Venezuelan territory; according to indications from Colombia.

Guerilla in Venezuela

The Colombian government has insisted for several years that the ELN guerrilla leaders live in Venezuela under the protection of the government of Nicolás Maduro.

“The leaders of the ELN receive medical attention in Venezuela, they have roots in that country, they are holders of bank accounts, they launder money, they do tourism and they have properties there without the authorities doing anything at all,” the minister of security said at a press conference. It limits to the north and east with Venezuela, to the south with the departments of Boyacá and Santander. It is one of the most complex departments in Colombia: four illegal armed structures converge in it: ‘Clan del Golfo’, ELN, EPL, GAPF.
