The authorities analyze the possibility that the exit of citrus production from the coast occurs from the Port of Paysandú.

The CARU authorities are focused on promoting a greater flow of commercial navigability on the Uruguay River. The citrus companies that participated were Naranjales Guarino, Camposol. Frutura (former Caputto) could not participate due to scheduling reasons.

In this sense, and for that occasion, the Uruguayan Delegation before CARU, integrated among others, by María Eugenia Almirón, also participated the Paysandú Intendancy, the Sanducero Port Captaincy and the Murchinson company.

Almirón commented that the meeting was highly positive, that there is a tendency to develop the idea of enhancing the navigability of the Uruguay River from that coastal area “taking into account the interest of the Salto citrus companies in taking production through the Port of Paysandú” .

María Eugenia Almirón has already been defending the short-term start-up of the new operation from the Port of Paysandú.
