“The opposition primaries will be a disaster. They know it,” said the first vice president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello.
“It is not required to be a fortune teller, an analysis with variables is not required (…) It is the reality, they are going to be a disaster,” emphasized the senior chavista politician in the customary press conference of the political party.
Regarding the financing of the opposition primary elections, Cabello estimated that they will cost 30 million dollars and that obtaining the money is “very complicated for them, very difficult to obtain by October 22.”
“Where will they get that money? Well, NGOs can’t be funding political activities,” she recalled.
On the platform created by the National Primary Commission that would allow Venezuelan migrants abroad to vote in the primaries, Cabello revealed that only 24,000 people have registered, something that he described as an “absolute failure.”
“Something is happening, the opposition is given to falling for themselves (…),” he said.
Last week, Jesús María Casal, president of the so-called National Commission for Primaries, said that the opposition elections will be carried out in a self-managed manner, which includes aspects of a “financial nature” and “fundraising strategies” that involve electronic raffles and the contribution of Venezuelans abroad.
Capriles tried to negotiate authorization for Citgo
Cabello pointed to Capriles Radonski as a Venezuelan “blackmailer of politics” when he affirmed that he asked to negotiate with the Venezuelan company Citgo – a subsidiary of PDVSA in US territory – for his political authorization.
“When he was discovered, he came out to speak desperately (…) it is the attitude of blackmail to say today that they never asked for sanctions. But they have a person from Primero Justicia receiving 346 million US dollars, ”he accused.
The revolutionary leader recalled that Capriles is disqualified and assured that “he defrauds a group of people by telling them that he can be a candidate. At this point, don’t blame us.”
