Biden and Saudi Arabia in the race to prevent Iran from achieving a nuclear weapon

The president of the United States, Joe Biden, began a tour of the Middle East that has taken him to Israel, Palestine and now Saudi Arabia, as part of his nation’s diplomatic strategy to strengthen Washington’s presence in the area. Also, it is his first trip to this region since he took power.

The president of the United States (USA), Joe Biden, renewed an agreement with Saudi Arabia whose objective is none other than to prevent Iran from achieving a nuclear weapon. The US president met on July 16 with the crown prince, Mohamed bin Salmán, whom he had accused of murdering journalist Jamal Khasoggi at the Saudi embassy in Turkey.

The US president also certified a step towards regional peace by consummating the cession of the border islands that Egypt had already made to Riyadh in 2017. Among Biden’s objectives are softening relations with Riyadh, one of the world’s largest oil producers , reviewed Euronews.

“International peacekeepers, including US troops, will leave the island of Tiran, in the Red Sea, where they have been for more than 40 years, since the Camp David agreements,” Biden assured.

In reference to the conversation with the Saudi representative about the murder of Jamal Khashoggi and his alleged responsibility, Biden commented that Mohamed bin Salmán “said that he was not personally responsible for it. He indicated that I did believe he was. He said that he was not personally responsible for it and that he took action against those responsible. And then I went on to talk more about how that dealing with any critical opposition from the Saudi administration and from other countries was considered by me to be a violation of human rights.”
