Venezuelan diplomat Alex Saab affirmed that “the United States must return to the path of peace.”
This was expressed in an audio shared by his wife, Camilla Fabri Saab, leader of the Free Alex Saab Movement and broadcast during the forum of the US Peace and Social Justice Movement, Code Pink.
In the audio, Saab expressed that Venezuela is not an enemy of the United States, and “the political difference should not prevent us from maintaining political and diplomatic relations with our government.”

He also states that he is “a political prisoner, there is no doubt. A prisoner of unconventional war that the United States has unilaterally declared us, imposing criminal sanctions on us that have caused terrible damage to the people of Venezuela.”
He assured that the government of the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, “has already extended his hand several times, with the aim of reestablishing cordial relations with the United States, based on mutual respect.”
The diplomat urged to leave mistakes in the past and move forward, and called for peace and reconciliation: “it is time to shake hands.”
